Different Expectations & Tastes

Interactivity

Implied in the printed text is a gap between of time and space between the author and the reader reads it. With electronic writing, the paradigms are shifted when the gap is shortened. The immediacy of forums, discussion groups, e-mails, ICQ messages and IRC makes it almost verbal except the mode of representation is still writing (typing).

Internet users increasingly expect this form of interactivity because the Internet, unlike print, has the capability of giving that level of speed of communication and interactivity.

Chatting has become a form of social activity and is included in many search engines such as Yahoo.com. This is an entire revolution of human communication, involving actually doing things together, as opposed to the passive relationship between readers and authors in the print culture.
